President and Prime Minister of East Timor Meet HWPL, IPYG

DEC 2017

IPYG’s Wave of Peace Flows to the East Timor’s Government

On October 27th, 2017 at 11 a.m., Mr. Arsenio Pereira da Silva, the Director of Fongtil, met with the President of East Timor at the President’s office. This meeting was hosted to introduce HWPL and the IPYG.

Since last year, Mr. Arsenio Pereira da Silva has been doing various works to publicize HWPL and encourage East Timor to support the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW). At the beginning of this year he introduced HWPL and the DPCW to the  Minister of Justice. His work for peace has been recognized, and he received a HWPL Plaque of Appreciation from Chairman Lee at the 3rd Annual Commemoration of the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace Summit hosted in South Korea. He continued to publicize peace through media conferences and radio talk shows. His efforts resulted in establishing a meeting with the President and Prime Minister.

Along with Mr. Herculano Amaral, the Director of International Rotary Club of Dili Lafaek, and others, Mr. Arsenio Pereira da Silva explained the work of HWPL, the IPYG, and Article 10 Clause 38 of the DPCW to the President. He also showed reports from the current IPYG activities and the 3rd Annual Commemoration of the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace Summit.

The President of East Timor expressed his gratitude for Chairman Lee’s endeavors and efforts for world peace. He was especially amazed that religious leaders, the media, youths, women and people from all walks of life gathered to discuss world peace. Afterwards, Mr. Arsenio Pereira da Silva expressed that if current activities of HWPL and the IPYG are shared in civic organizations, then peace work can be done on a national level.

On that day at 4 p.m., Mr. Arsenio Pereira da Silva made this day more meaningful by introducing the work of HWPL and the IPYG to the President and Prime Minister of East Timor.

There is a saying that “Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be.” The relationship that first started at the peace walk on July 2016 in a small city, Luro of East Timor later became a connection that introduced HWPL and the IPYG to the President. We hope meetings like this will continue so that IPYG’s peace work will advance to a national level. Furthermore, we hope the President and Prime Minister will be invited to the 4th Annual Commemoration of the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace Summit to see and hear the reality of peace. With that, we hope that the wave of peace and joy will flow throughout East Timor.
